People walked across its natural bridge for panoramic coastal views, while divers explored the waters below its massive span.

Early Signs of Instability
Even during its most celebrated years, the structure was slowly weakening. Small fragments of rock occasionally broke away, and aerial observations revealed growing fractures across the limestone surface. Severe storms continued to batter the formation, accelerating the natural erosion process.

Ultimately, the destruction of the Azure Window was unavoidable. A powerful storm delivered the final impact, bringing down the weakened structure in a dramatic collapse. Ironically, the same natural forces that had sculpted the arch over centuries were responsible for its sudden end.
Legacy and What Remains
Today, discussions continue about how best to commemorate the site. Ideas range from preserving the area as a natural memorial to creating a museum or using digital technologies such as augmented reality to reconstruct its former appearance for visitors.
However, the story of sea arches does not end here. Similar formations still exist along coastlines around the world, shaped continuously by wind and water.
Erosion remains an ongoing natural process. While one arch may disappear, new ones will eventually form elsewhere, continuing the cycle of coastal transformation.
